A short history of Reiki
Reiki is an ancient holistic healing technique of focusing life force healing energy to the areas of the mind, body and spirit where it is most needed. It is a deeply relaxing, healing and restorative therapy and was originally practiced by the Tibetan Buddhist Llamas to enhance their spiritual development. It was later developed by Dr. Mikau Usui, a highly educated Japanese Buddhist monk, who developed and used the technique for healing during the latter part of the 19th century in Tokyo.
The Reiki Healing Process
I create a relaxing atmosphere in my Reiki treatment room with soothing, relaxing music and soft lights. While my client is laying on the couch I begin by gently placing my hands on her shoulders, allowing her to relax and feel safe and get used to the energy flow. When I feel it is time to begin the healing I place my hands on the crown on his head, and feel the gentle flow of Reiki energy to flow through my hands. This energy can feel anything from very hot to cold, and sometimes it is possible to detect a very subtle vibration which is the energy waves of the healing force. The sensations received during Reiki are deeply relaxing and can transport clients to a place of 'bliss'. I move my hands to just above his third eye Chakra, and continue sending Reiki, this time through the Aura.
It is always best to follow your intuition when healing with Reiki, and depending on what seems right, I will either heal through the Aura above the body or with hands directly onto each Chakra, it depends on the energy coming back from my client.
If I feel there is an energy block on any of the Chakras I will use a crystal pendulum to get a reading. The pendulum swings in a clockwise direction if it is functioning normally. If it remains still or circles anti-clockwise, it indicated there is an imbalance or an energy block. To further enhance the energy of the Chakra, I sometimes place a healing crystal onto the chakra, and leave it there during the healing process.
I continue moving down the body towards the feet, healing each Chakra centre, and when the healing is complete, I cleanse the Aura of any negative energy, and ask my client to very gently bring themselves back to the presence of the room.

Chakra Centres and the Aura
The knowledge of Chakras comes from the Hindu religion. Illustrations showing the seven major Chakras can be seen by making a search on the Internet by simply keying in – Chakras or clicking onto www.sacredcenters.com . There are many more minor chakras all over the body.
The seven Chakras are as follows:-
- Crown Chakra - Colour pure white or Violet
- Third eye Chakra - purple
- Throat Chakra - Turquoise/blue
- Heart Chakra - Pink or Green
- Solar Plexus Chakra - Yellow
- Sacral Chakra - Orange
- Root Chakra - Red
Each Chakra spins very gently, it extends from the edge of the Aura, pulling life force energy through the Aura like a vortex into the centre of the Chakra, and out through the other side and back into the Aura, releasing the used energy back into the atmosphere. This happens from the front of the body to the back.
The Aura is the electro-magnetic energy field that completely surrounds the body and extends from a few inches up to several feet in highly spiritually advanced people.
